ok, I haven't read through, sorry about that, but $1k 32's by year end?!? come-on...
please.... not gonna hapen, period. I will believe $1k 16's by year end and with delays on release...

if so... I'll get a 16 to "hold me over" lol... ha ha... that'd be nice

is there ANY truth? oficial release? anything? if so I apologize, but it is way to abrupt of an adjustment...

hey, Cineporter comes to might though... so maybe, just maybe they are going to TRY... not gonna happen either way...

I think we could all speculate till the cows come home. I doubt we'll get any answers till NAB though, (getting really close).
Hope to meet some of you there.

I can definitely see Panasonic wanting to get more agressive with the P2 pricing in light of the huge, almost instant popularity of XDCamHD.

I'd love to see $50 / GB prices or lower by year-end.

I want to be able to go out and shoot all day if I have to without worrying about lack of space or offloading on location. That's it! I want to be able to shoot as if I'm using tape. And I believe that can be achieved with enough P2 cards. So give me four 128GB cards and I'll be perfectly happy because I'm sure that'll make things much easier.

I'm not saying I'll need four cards to get through the typical day. But I am saying that should a project come around where I'll have to travel and/or shoot for many hours, I'd like to know that I'll be covered.

So again, I love P2 but I don't feel it's as practical as tape just yet. I do believe it will be someday.

Ahhh been away for a while and come back to Abaddon's same old rant about P2.
Are you still sitting in your editing room dreaming about that assignment from National Geographic where you will need to go out in the wilderness and roll camera for 5 hours a day for 3 days straight?
Let's have a look at that scenerio from your "practical" tape based P.O.V. That would be 30 DVCPro HD tapes. Each box measures about 12"x6"x4". So 3 boxes would take up more space than a laptop and a FW drive and a couple of P2 cards and a P2 store.
So your point is once again based on something you seem to have no experience with. Give it a rest, we've heard it all before.

it wouldn't surprise me if we do see 32 gig cards by the end of the year, or close to it. Although, maybe not at the 1k price point.
The "rumor" is coming from Russ Walker at Panasonic. Studio Daily has a videotaped presentation by him where he said 32GB cards would be delivered by the end of 2007, for "about $1000".
