Ok I admit it, I only have a passing knowledge of what these bit rate mean. Can someone explain how these rates apply to the OS and FCP? Thanks!

The most basic meaning to my understanding is that a program has the ability to compute a chunk of data that is twice the size of an older program's ability. This allows for things such as being able to assign more then 4GB of RAM to itself. It also has the potential, but not guaranteed, to process things faster since you are taking "bigger bites" of data at once.

Writing what audio on how long a project using what computer and what version of what in what sequence setting?

Lol. that's part of my sig. Not really a reply towards this thread.

But this was on a 8 Core 3.0 Mac Pro. Honestly, I believe it was a freak glitch. shortly after taking that capture, I canceled and re-rendered. And it only took a few minutes. Appropriate for the length of the timeline I was working on. I've not had anything that drastic happen since. I keep it for a bit of humor. Puts a smile on my face. And it's not a bash on FCP! :~)
