30p to 60p to 24p conversion example

Does Gluetools have anything to do with frame rate conversions of the type we're trying to do? Someone else brought Glue Tools up but I looked for info on it, the only time I've used Gluetools is for Phantom Footage.

Cinema Tools conforming, I didn't see ANY artifacts when doing a slow down. Same for A.E interpret @ 23.98. Looked smooth.

You will, of course, see no artefacts when interpreting 30p footage at 23.98fps as there is no processing involved that could introduce artefacts.

Shake Takes forever
Twixtor gets lazy and artifacting goes crazy but it's fast
AE is a hit/miss and is somewhere in between those two.

Agreed !

All these methods require some user input, some masking, some cheating, some general behind the scenes tinkering to get a perfect (or close) conversion.

I've had one since the Manual Control release. Getting used to it, and it's worked plenty with and without me so I can't complain. That and I finally got another tiny LCD to use, got it setup with some weight.

All in all just want some 24p, but in due time.

Was SUPPOSED to get a certain other camera but the damned US release is incredibly silly. So to the point where I'm just gonna hold off until that certain other company drops another camera body.

I'm not talking about rolling shutter I mean dropped frames and earthquake like judder.

and it's not my tripod it's "pro" :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

The video that's up, in that scenario I'm quite certain that it would've jumped to all hell. It looks good enough to my eyes to use, regardless of the artifacts when stepping.

I'd hate to have it rear up much uglier than that when it really counts though. That's the big scare.

This might be a bit OT: I think the optical flow tecnology must get smarter. Every cheap handycam nowadays has face detection, some have even more complex object detection. So it should be possible for an optical flow software to "know" what object it is rendering. A human body, a car, an airplane and so on. This might improve the results because every object has a typical movement pattern. I've seen many problems with humans entering or leaving the frame or with rotating car rims and so on. All of this should improve if the software could recognize those objects as what they are.

Guys,

I'm impressed by all the knowledge you have but... why can't we just change the framerate in compressor. Does it work as well?
And why isn't there any plugin in final cut that help to change to 24p or 25p with one click?

Thanks
