30p to 24p on a Mac

Hi there. I'm working on a film that was shot primarily on 16mm film, but one scene was done on the 5D at 1080/30p. I'd like to know the best method for converting the footage to 24p. I haven't worked with footage from the 5D before but the files being given to me are ProRes. I'm just wondering if it's something I need to do in FCP, Compressor, etc.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

In my opinion the best is Twixtor. Shake is really good, but not so good when there is a lot of action. Besides it takes a lot of rendering time.

If the scene is very short you can experiment with a maunal conversion

Export your frames as tiff stills

know that you have to delete six per second

use PS to layer those soon to be deleted frames into adjacent ones , using intelligent masking or even moving items in the frame !

Trying this at least gives you a good overview of conversion

you can also cheat some fast moves by running them at 30/24 - you may need to pitch shift the sound

Options relevant to post on short clips on high budgets!

I use compressor mixed with 30/24 for action which is very cool

Well the scene we shot was just two people slow dancing in a closed bar so there's not a ton of fast action going on. I'm crossing my fingers at the moment. Getting the footage in today.
