I filmed in 30p ....shoule I be able to capture into FCP in a timeline set to 30p ...or should it still be 29.97.....I tried capturing in a 30p timeline and a FCP window popped up that read the timeline did not match the footage.

also in the advance setting should i change it to progresiv?

Thank you!!

MiniDV runs at 29.97 no matter what flavor you shoot. With 30P, there's no pulldown to remove, no conversion. Just progressive shooting in a 29.97 format.

TV's pioneering engineers dropped the .03 frames to make room for the color information in the blanking when color TV came around.

im a bit confused now...i understand the whole 24p - pulldown ...ext...

But when working with 30p ....why not setup a 30 timeline.

I shot all the footage in 30p....should it all be edited in a 29.97 timeline....when if at all do i need to convert the footage from 29.97 and or timeline to 30p

24P, 24PA, and 30P all have to do (on the DVX) with how the camera collects the information. After that point, it has to be laid to the tape at 29.97 (the native, and only, frame rate for miniDV).

With 24P, there's the pull-down which you already understand.

With 30P, it just means that the video frames are not interlaced, but it still runs, and can be edited at, 29.97.

So when and how can I work with the 30p footage in a 30p timeline... rather then working with it in a 29.97 timeline.. .or is that an option
