30p scene file suggestion

I'm going to shoot a little docu-style corporate piece in 30p, but there is not a default scene file setting for this mode. final delivery will be for the web. shooting w/ the 100b. any suggestions?

my decision thus far is to, in scene file preset 5, change 24p to 30p and leave it at that.

looked for a resource for lists of user scene files shooting 30p but couldn't find anything.

not going for any specific look, just want decent looking 30p footage.

thanks.

You pretty much have it, I mean set your progressive setting to 30P and then just go through the settings and find what your looking for. You said your not looking for any specific look, so just make sure you white balance, set your exposure, use the zebras to help, or even the marker, and from there its just a matter of you testing out different settings in the scene file settings menu to find what looks best for the job your doing.

30p doesn't make the footage look any different from 24p except for motion cadence. So any setting you like for 24p will look exactly the same in 30p.

F4, 30p

F4, 30p

I'm finally starting to have an understanding of this camera but am still wondering how useful the presets are to people.

I find myself really only using either the f1 (60i) or f5 (24pN) settings... at this point I haven't gotten as experimental with the camera in different scenes/settings as I plan to, so I'm wondering if people find the f2-f4 settings useful in situations or if you can get by with (as is asked in the original post here) changing one of them to a 30p setting and maybe losing the B-stream or other setting which could be adjusted for a shoot from the f1 setting.

As far as what I've shot has been pretty random - some local commercial type stuff, fair amount of external shots, some industrial, some interview.... so its possible I could be using these presets better.

thoughts?

I don't use any of the scene files. I use all my own presets. It is really a matter of personal preference.

As long as you like what it coming out of the camera, or you know you can change it in post, there is really not an issue of using the presets "better." It is using them in accordance with your taste.

"better" or different

"better" or different

I guess maybe to rephrase my question, b.c the reply makes sense (to each their own)... does anyone get good use out of the factory settings?

As I said I pretty much stick to f1 and f5, hoping to start getting better use of the camera so I'll test out some 30p and other settings to see what I like.

Another question, can you save scene file settings in the camera without assigning them to the wheel? (i.e. are there more than 6 presets allowed?

If so, can someone give me a quick guide on how to do that.
