Hi, everybody, am I the only one who’s annoyed that newer 4K+ action cameras and pocket cameras are forgoing the option for 24p? Granted, it’s not exactly a pocket camera but the Nikon P1000 would have been a perfect quick shot, specialty stock footage, and trick zoom camera but the frame rates are only 30P NTSC and 25P PAL. Even waterproof action cameras from Panasonic and JVC are limited like this. I thought we were well past the point of neglecting 24p and embracing it as a selling point for “cinematic footage”. Granted, pros know that 25p can be converted but it’s not going to be the same as native 24p. Unless firmware updates come out later for these cameras, I don’t understand why camera makers would take a major step back and create a hassle for pros who could use these specialty cameras for more cinematic projects. On top of that, it just keeps GoPro and now DJI on top of the list of potential 24p action cameras so they’re essentially leaving money on the table.
