while i know thistopic hasbeen discussed at length, ive had a hard time discoveringany answers for my specific quandry.
im compiling an skateboard video for which ive posted a trailer for elsewhere on the forum:
http://www.kynantait.com/videography/trailer/lg.html
my question is that, due to the nature of skate videos, my source fottage comes from many shooters, most of which dont have a dvx nor have the option of shooting 24p.
because im relatively new to the camera, ive shot a few short films/tests with 24p and 24pa and ive edited them all in final cut on a 29.97fps timebase. ive never had any complaints about how the footage looked, even when im watching it on an external NTSC tv.
upon further reading, both on this forum and other sources, ive discovered that the proper protocol for editing 24p and 24pa footage on final cut is to import them at 23.98fps with the proper pulldown method, then edit them on a 24p timeline.
my problem is that with so much footage coming at me at different fps, im looking for a reasonable option for editing all of the footage one timeline.
do i edit on a 24p timeline and find a way to convert all of my other footage to work in this timeline, or do i stick to a 29.97 timeline and continue to work with all of the footage the way i have been doing?
i realize that if i ever chose to do a "film out" transfer, id have to compose everything on a 24p timeline, but if i chosenot to do a film out, is working with 24 and 24pa footage on a 29.97 timeline really that unorthodox?
