300w bulb in a Arri 150w

DON'T DO IT.

Your light is named for the highest rated bulb it can safely handle. You can put a lower rated bulb in a higher rated fitting but not the other way round. The 300W and 650W fittings are larger for a reason. The heat needs to be dissapated, the wiring gauge may be thicker, if they could safely make a 650W fresnel the size of a 150W they would. You do not want a bulb to draw 300W through that tiny fresnel. Not safe.
 
Yeah, that´s what I thought! I know you can put a 500w in a 300w fixture, but I guess these fixtures are built alittle bit more "beefier". Thanks!
 
The 300W/500W fresnel is really a 500W fitting that is often used with a 300W bulb (I guess because 500W is too close to 650W to be that useful). It isn't being 'overdriven' with a higher rated bulb.

On a related note, can a 650W Arri fresnel run a 150W bulb? B&H rates the 650 plus as compatible with 300W, 500W, and 650W bulbs, but doesn't say anything about lower. Having as few different-sized fresnels as possible would be great for not having to get different sized scrims, speedrings etc unless I'm not taking other factors into consideration. Noob here, obviously.
