OK. My new issue for the week. ??? I have acquired $3000 and am ready to buy a Mac or a good NLE. But I don't wanna be broke. Can anyone recommend somewhere I can invest my hard earned dough and maybe even double it up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Kris :D

Re: $3000 to use???

I build NLE's. I am sure I could get you a smokin hot Avid DV system for around that much. Maybe without a monitor! But with everything else. If you need a monitor, it will decrease the fundage you spend on other stuff like RAM/Hard drives/Processor speed etc.
Feel free to email me I can spec you something out if you like

Re: $3000 to use???

It depends what NLE you want to use. If you want to work on FCP, then you need a mac, in which case you can pretty much say bye-bye to your $3k. With practically any other NLE, you can use a PC, and depending on the NLE you choose, you may have more or less moolah to play with. What sort of work are you intending to do? That could help in the selection of the best NLE for you.

Re: $3000 to use???

I actually want to invest and make more money, before I blow it all on an NLE. Any suggestions where to put the loot and get more back?

Re: $3000 to use???

As much as i'd love to hit Steve with a pro-Mac harassment right now ( ;)), on the money issue, I would have to agree and say go with a good, solid, pc-based NLE if you only have 3k to play with.

If you went the Mac route, you'd be at 5k just with a 2gHz box and monitor... THEN you have to buy all the software and add-ons after that.

Re: $3000 to use???

..stock market is pretty strong right now.. you could hit some lowball penny stocks with 3,000 and walk away with alot more if they so much as go up 1 cent. i like to pick up an extra few mill every now and then on the swiss money market, but really i dont.. and that was a lie.. so just stick with the penny stocks.. if you know what your doing its pretty easy to double or quadruple your money on a buy rated lowball pennystock in a short amount of time. but be carefull i dont want you to lose it all.. if all else fails just stick it in the bank/credit union...better than nothing.

Re: $3000 to use???

havent looked.. im just sitting right now. letting it cook.  just do a search with a filter for a buy rated pennystock at .10 or under asking price . I usually go for the ones around 2 cents.. its very common for them to go up a cent or 2 during the day, or more, and drop back down. you just got to stay on it, and sell quick.. if you dont have an internet account you pretty much out of luck to do the flick of the wrist day trading stuff like this, so look into ameritrade, or some other similar option. usually i do a review of the companies before investing , and wouldnt buy in based on a buy rating alone. i usually see what they are all about, and review thier history, and future plans,  and see what they are capeable of, and if theyve made any recent very bad mistakes. generally new companies are great, and will always be a gainer for at least a week, but its hard to tell. so be sure to do your homework.  in general its hard for stocks like that to go any lower, and very easy for them to go up . if they fit all the requirments of a buy rating, good history , good future plan, and no big blunder in past. .. the most important part is to just know when youve made enough. even if your only making 150% on a sale.. thats a good take.. pending how much your playing with, but i usually just set a flagged trade to sell everything as soon as the stock reches a certain price, and then set the # of days the  transaction will wait for, and then have it notify me via e-mail when its done, and if its not ever done, i reset it for a new amount of time, or look for a different stock somtimes. ..makes it pretty easy. but somtimes things go south, and youve got to tell your self that its ok  to lose a few hundred if youve made a few k in the last month... or you lose 5k and some of your wifes hard earned money too caus e you thought you had a sure thing, and have to make up for it for a while..been there too. its not ever a sure thing. so just play it smart, if it was too easy why would anyone even work?
