Hey everyone , here is a link to a 30 second PSA shot on the DVX100a and Mini 35 400 with Nikon lenses. I used the Nikon 80-200mm and 60mm macro. There was no budget at all but I am very happy with how it turned out.

I was the DP and Tim Fisher was the director.

very sweet, Ambush. that Mini35 is an incredible thing. The shot of the woman and the child is absolutely gorgeous. What was the spot cut with? Also please tell us about the lighting, both for the crayon part but especially the woman and child.

Very professional! Anyone know if there are more footage of the dvx100A/mini 35 combo out there?

That's sweet, you made it come together.

It doesn't come together on it's own and you put together a piece you can be proud of.

Very nice. The only thing that bothered me was the cutting effect you used with the child bushing the crayon over the words seemed repedative. Ei it was the same pattern of cuts for each word though different angles so it almost looked like a packaged effect that you just dropped clips into. I would do more variety in that if there was a second chance but aside from that it looks very well done.

Thats a good point.

Using a variety would add some visual interest and keep it live.

Hey all , I was unable to go to edit so I don’t know what was software was used. As far as lighting , the shot with the women and girl is all available light, they were facing the sun and I had to 6x6 silk diffusing the light on them, and I there was a sliver reflector for a slight rim light on camera left.


the shot of the crayon coloring was just a 500 watt tungsten light bulb and flag to prevent a lens flare since the light was so close.


In 2 weeks I should be shooting a music video and I will post that on here.

All sunlight huh? And I was thinking HMI's on softboxes, and some tungsten on the background. Sometimes we just forget about mother nature...

Looks amazing of course. But how was there "no budget" on this if you shot it using the mini-35 adapter!?!?! lol... ;D

Or do you just own the equipment already? (holding... murderous... jealous... urges... back...!)

ambushgroup, Great PSA. I mean it. It was really well done. The only complaint I have is the same as DigitalAsylum's. The edit/effect used on the crayon shot bothered my eyes. Then again I'm getting pretty old. Wait, I have one more complaint. I DON'T WANT TO GET OLD!!!!

there was no budget , I own the mini 35 and the nikon lenses.
