30 second Political Ad

I wanted to let you know about my latest project. I produced a political ad. You can see it HERE

http://obamain30seconds.org/vote/?v=view-1738-0mjTVK

I shot the ad with an HVX200 720p/24pn accessorized with a Brevis adapter, Nikon lenses and a Firestore. I can upload a full res version later.

There's an online contest for the best 30 second ad sponsored by moveon.org.
MoveOn! will purchase airtime nationwide for the winning spot, and provide a nice equipment prize for the winner, as well. There's an impressive judges panel to rate the finalists, including, Russell Simmons, Oliver Stone, Ben Affleck, John Legend and others.

By the way...there's no comments on the site. So, of course, I would appreciate any comments and feedback you have.

Thanks,
CDJ

good commercial, but about every other commercial submitted is exactly the same style as yours. There are so many that just have people talking one after another, it seems to be the popular political ad style these days. What makes yours stick out though is that it looks about 100 times better than all the other ads. I've become completely numb to ads in this style, I watched a good 50 commercials, and more than half were the talking head ads. Good luck with it though.

it is a popular style. You did a good job though. The images look nice all around. A couple of the people were a little awkwardly spoken, but it was good. Definitely good enough to land you a job doing one for another candidate!

DM - I agree, I was a little frustrated to see that style used multiple times, and I guess subconsciously all of the ads have been inspired by some of the musical support videos that have been championed in the first part of the year. I do appreciate the encouragement and appreciation that the quality is set apart from the others.

I'm rendering out a ProRes 422 version now and will post later.

DAMN IT me and my crew were supposed to do this but due to scheduling we had to basically wait till last minute and THEN the actor who we had as part of our concept bailed on us and IT WAS A WRAP. good luck though

it does look like all the others though but quality is great.

Nice job! I do like the quality. I totally understand the "One man band" problem. Here's mine. I, too, was a one man band, shooting on a DVX100. Hoping to get better equipment through something like this. Catch 22. ANyway, here check it out. I really like the idea I came up with. It was actually an idea I've had for a voting PSA for a few years, I just adapted it to fit. Like I said, I wish I'd been able to use better equipment/more technicians.

Wow...nice ad. i liked the look with the vignette, and going the voiceover route was smart. Sometimes a non-verbal performance is easier to direct than a voiced one.

I also wanted to find a vet or reserve person to include them in my spot but they were quite elusive. Good job man.

My only comment is it seemed more like a general voting ad than one specifically for Obama. Your tag works well to shape it, but when you said it was an adapted earlier concept, I saw that when I watched. But nice production.
