30 Second Demo Reel

Yes yes.. I made a 30 second demo reel (its actually closer to 37 seconds, but who's counting anyway.)

Everything shot on a Panasonic DVX100A (except for a few clips that were b-roll shots)... some shots I used panasonics anamorphic adaptor. What do you think of the timing and music? I had to fit a lot of projects into it.

The last shot is a shake sfx I did a while back for fun.

I thought it would be a good test to try and make a 30-second spot .. the kind that run on TV. But its going to go up on the website perhaps, to hook in potential clients, and maybe some day aired on TV... some day.

It's interesting. Sort of an odd mix of shots though. When the girl inserts the video tape she looks unnaturally fast and the double blink at the end also seemed wrong somehow. What music is that?

I sped up a few of the clips to make things faster, the music is something I threw together for the clip.. you're right about the girl blinking at the end.. but I plan on refining it before I put it on the web - I was attempting to include as many different shots as I could but the CG shot at the end just doesn't fit.

good stuff redcap... Very diverse and proffessional looking... Are you intending to keep it at about the same amount of time when you add your contact info and all? meaning are you locked into this time frame or what?

Looks good. Let's the viewer know you've done a little of everything.

Perhaps using a little of the ambient sound from the clips might be something worth looking into. This might help it play a little less of a "quick music video type demo reel". I used to do a lot of music montages- that was always a lot of fun and looked great, but opening up the audio gives you a lot of possibilities.

Just my thoughts.

I thought it was too fast, and too erratic. As a demo reel, I wanted to see the shots long enough to check them out, but they just flew by. You started with some nifty graphics- maybe you could end with something similar, like your name and contact information. It does look like you have some great stuff to work with though. I would just like to see it slowed down a bit.
