I've been trying to get better with getting nice images from my fx1, so I took it out in the cold yesterday....

Here are a few screen grabs from the footage.

They were shot in 1080i but have been resized for posting, deinterlaced and have some basic CC.

ahhh. Nice grabs, I like the second one. Camera settings?

Well since it was so dang cold out... I left it on auto focus, used the preset outdoor white balance, CF24, sharpness at 15. Thats it pretty basic. The footage looks suprisingly great on the 42" Sony plasma screen we have here.

I think setting the sharpness to 15 helps a little bit making the image pop IMO, I know from reading tests, that you still have to set this cam at like 7 sharpness to get to where othercameras are at, at normal. And some say that 15 is a little over kill and you should go like around 12, but after hooking it up viz component outputs to the plasma and flipping through settings, the difference is very slight, if noticable at all to most people. There is a difference between a low sharpness and the highest, but no one could ever tell a few numbers difference.

I went to your site you got some real cool stuff there
did you do it all on the fx1.
keep up the good work.

Thanks! Yeah like 95% was done on the FX1, except for the trek and seiko mock commercials, the Halloween film fest thing and music vid. Those were done with my vx2100 ( which has been sold ). I still have more work to do on it, and I should be posting up more stuff fairly soon. Been shooting a short film in Chicago with some people, but its been cold and haven't had a chance to really get going to finish that.
