3 Sandisk Extreme III 4gb for only $33!

Not a bad deal at all. But be aware they're only the 20MB p/sec versions (with the silver label).

The newer Extreme IIIs are 30MB per second (red and gold label).

It looks like the rebate form (from Sandisk) applies to the newer cards (maybe i'm wrong but it had two model numbers listed)...I guess you could get the newer one's but it'd be slightly more expensive sans Abe of Maine's cupon code....but still the rebate is the bulk of the price saver here.

are these really no good for the GH1? I have like 10 8gb versions i was hoping to use.... i thought the GH1 was 17mb?

Simple rule to remember.

If it's Mb(mega bits) divide it by 8 and you'll get MB(mega bytes)

So

17mb/8=2.125 MB.

Also, how is it that an Ultra III rate is class 6, but is 30MB?
Doesn't make any sense. Class 6 should be 6MB's a second

edit:
according to wiki- the 30MB on these Ultra cards are the read speeds, not the write speeds.

Extreme III is class 6, Ultra II is class 4...@ 15MB/s....and the answer is because Sandisk is awesome.

they're deceiving in some way. their write speeds are no faster than other class 6 cards. they may read fast, and more reliable, but people are gonna see "30MB" and think that's the kind of write speed they'll get.

No, they're not.

I have no idea how Class 6 is rated, but I suspect it's based on random read/write using medium-sized files.

Sandisk's ratings are achievable if you use large files being written/read sequentially.

You are aware that for just about any storage medium, it's faster when reading huge chunks of data? That's how that large number is achieved, and in this context, it's not entirely misleading, since that's what most of us use it for. What isn't so clear, is how well the card works with the camera. It was an issue in the earlier days of digital photography, but nowadays most cameras don't skip on the write controller.

Guys these cards work great for this camera

I'm currently using Sandisk Class 4 cards and they work great with my camera.

These will be fine. Not sure if deal is still on or not, bet it is.

Above poster who said he had a bunch of these? Great! These will work.

Seriously. There is no question.
