3 point lighting for under $500

Hi, I'm looking for a decent 3 point lighting kit for under $500, does anyone have any recommendations?

You won't find it new. You might be able to create your own kit by purchasing used. Here's a great link that Dan (aka puredrifting) provided a few weeks ago:

What about the BluLine Fresnel systems (as advertised @ iMageWest.tv for example)? They appear to be modeled after Arri and the price seems right at $399 and up. Would they make a basic, decent starter lighting kit?

I think the "Arri knockoff" type lights are a good option for those of us who do not require the build quality of the real thing, just something with comparable light. I elected to buy my set of CDM lights from Cool Lights, a DVX sponsor. They have tunsten lights comparable to the Image West lights. Not quite as cheap - but the owner, Richard, moved to China to oversee the design and construction of his lights. To me, that's worth a few more bucks.

I dont know why you would buy Arri knock offs. Their is a reason they arent Arris. Go with coollights.
