Hi, I am looking into a light kit to rent for interviews, but I am trying to go all Daylight.
What would you recommend? Kinos? LED? both? which ones?
Thanks.

I think if you don't mind having to deal with extension cords, fluorescents are the way to go. I never like the look of LEDs as keylight without a softbox. I've found them to have oddly colored specular highlights, plus they aren't quite big enough for a soft source. And once you put a softbox on them you've cut down your output considerably. That being said, my kit is basically LEDs with softboxes now for convenience, size and speed (no AC needed). I light at a much lower level with LEDs than I do with my fluorescent kit, which I don't think is bad if your camera can handle it. When I do want a fluorescent key, I typically still use an LED backlight because they are more directional and lighter for booming. For fill I generally just use a reflector.

If size and weight is not an issue, then go for Kinos. ( I have a bunch of 4-lamp and 6-lamp kino clones which are great when I am not working as a one-man-crew )

Otherwise good LED lights are very compact and can produce excellent results if properly color-corrected and diffused.

Personally I think tungsten are the best lights and I love the warm look they give off. Led, Kino etc. while great ( I have them) really don't ever give you that warm look tungstens can. Interviewing someone with brown or darker I like to bring out that gold skin color tone and from my experience with can only really be done with tungsten lighting.
