2X Extender/16mm Lens

Wondering something. A few shooters here are having luck with 2/3" ENG lenses and B4 to M43 adapters. The big issue outside of light loss is chromatic aberration since the ENG lenses are designed for 3-chip cameras. However, what about 16mm or Super 16mm lenses? Anyone know of a 2X adapter that could fit between a 16mm cine zoom and the AF100?

Super 16 PL to PL mount 2X extenders were made. I know Century and Optix had them but they weren't cheap back in the day so I don't know how many are floating about now. Like the ENG lenses they had a two stop light loss.
It's an interesting idea - anyone got one hanging around ? I've got a couple of S16 primes it would be great to test.

Not sure you need a 2x adapter for 16mm. I am using a C-Mount 16 26mm from the 50s and it looks great. A little bit of barrel distortion wide open, but once I stop below f2.8 it looks great.

Generally, longer than about 25mm will give full coverage, and wider than that will vignette. 25's vary - some vignette, some don't.

I have a Kern/Switar 16/1.8 for Bolex 16mm (C-mount). There is pronounced vignetting at the corners.

Using a C-mount 2x extender, the 16 yields full coverage with severe softness and CA when wide open, and has some slight vignetting develop as the lens is stopped down.

I also have a 4-12mm Tamron c-mount that doesn't vignette at all with the 2x extender, and a 8-48 Cosmicar/Pentax that vignettes with the extender regardless of aperture or focal length. In general, it seems that the coverage with extender is totally dependent upon the distance between the rear element of the lens and front element of the extender - closer = better coverage.

Pretty sure Zeiss did a 2X Extender/Doubler for PL Mount Lenses. Apparently now like hen's teeth.

I even think I heard mention of a Zeiss 3X Tripler?

Neil.
