2x Cropped Sensor compensates distortion?

Probably a dumb question, but just thought I'd ask to make sure. If a 28mm lens on a GH1 becomes a 56mm because of the cropping, is some of the distortion corrected or like, not as fish-eyed? Let's say the 28mm is a non-m4/3 lens. Thanks.

Most of the distortion is seen (perceived) at the edges of the frame. The camera is 'seeing' only the middle part...
I could not say the same thing for the circular fish eye lenses.

I'm trying to figure out what to do to get some distortion on the GH1, aside from buying a 300 dollar+ 15mm fisheye. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

You could try a strong fisheye adapter - I don't know what they cost but it's probably less than $300 and that will definitely give you distortion.

A 15mm fisheye won't really give you anything, you need something a lot wider. The 8mm Peleng can give some good distortion effects without any actual vignetting.
