Yup it's true.

Greetings everyone in the greater Toronto area.  With pleasure, I'd like to introduce myself as Peter Hordylan.  I'm the senior editor of Creative Post located at 510c Front St. W.  It is located at the corner of Front and Portland, which is right besides Bathurst.

It is my pleasure to announce that the management of Creative Post has green lighted my request for a DVX meeting to be held on Thursday January 13, 2005.  My hope is to invite the company that rents out the Mini 35 and give us all a demo.  I'll try and contact Sim to see if they have any interest in coming as well.  We can also have a Q&A forum.

Any interest, post here.  If you want to help, email me at

phordylan@creativepostinc.com

Thanks
Any help, thoughts would be appreciated

Let me know if you will attend.

Peter

Re: Toronto DVX User Meeting: Jan 13, 2005

Peter, that's grat news! What time? I work 'on the road', and would love to know how to book my ticket to get back to T.O. that day.

Mini 35 would be fantastic! I tried once to get to Kingsway&Evans (?) to have a look at the mini35, but couldn't find it... (don't ask why :()

Way to go!

(Question: I am looking for a post company in T.O. that would transfer old film [some 8mm and some 35mm - just a few minutes of footage] to digital [DigiBeta and/or miniDV]. Is that something your company does? If not, do you know of any?

Thanks,

Jerry

Re: Toronto DVX User Meeting: Jan 13, 2005

What time, good question.

Participant (you guys) could show up at 6:30 pm and we could start the actual meeting at 7:00 pm.

Jerry, we don't transfer film, however there is a company down the street from us called Exclusive that does. However, I don't think they have a D-beta.

Keep checking this post. If we don't have at least 10-15 people coming to attend, it will be cancelled.

If you want to come, please post to this thread

Re: Toronto DVX User Meeting: Jan 13, 2005

I'd be in on this as well... it would be cool to meet some fellow DVX users from the Toronto area. Are there any catches other than just showing up?

I just realized I hadn't officially said "I'm in" yet. Well I am.

Re: UPDATE:Toronto DVX User Meeting: Jan 13, 2005

There are no catches to this meeting. No user fees, no obligations, no bs. Show up, meet some fellow users, learn some stuff.

At the end of the meeting I am available for anyone interested in a tour of Creative Post. But if your not interested you can leave.

If you have ever been to an Avid meeting, then you know how this meeting will go.

Re: UPDATE:Toronto DVX User Meeting: Jan 13, 2005

I'll be there.

I'm a toronto feature film director. I have a few projects in mind for the DVX. My last feature was shot in 35, but I'm looking at more practical and cost effective ways to get stuff in production.

See you guys then

Re: 2nd UPDATE:Tor DVX Usr Meet: Jan 13, 05

O.K. Folks, here is the nights' schedule so far.

6:00-7:00 pm: Setup of lighting scenerio. All of those who are volunteering please show up for 6:00 pm at Creative Post.

6:30-7:00 pm: Meet and greet, network, say hello, whatever.

7:00-8:00 pm: Mini 35 Demo with questions.

8:00-8:20 pm: Demo of Cinetactics Mattleblox Anamorphic Kit (this includes their oversized French Flag). This is a cost effective solution for camera people who can't afford a Croziel.

8:20-9:00 pm: Discussion: Future of the club. Is this something we will continue with? Do we need a president? etc.

I will host this event and act as its chair. If there are any companies who would like to sponsor this event (we are looking for food and drink) please contact me at 416 567 9008 or 416 979-7678.

Thanks

Peter Hordylan

Re: 2nd UPDATE:Tor DVX Usr Meet: Jan 13, 05

Peter,

barring travel delays, I should be able to get to T.O. early enough to go and pick up my DVX and tripod. I have some lights, too (Lowel kit). Let me know if you still need any of that stuff.
