Hi,
I have an fs700 with an Q7+, Vmount batt from blueshape and a bunch of canon glass (16-35,24-70, 70-200 in both 2.8 and 4.0 versions). This all sits on a rather large GEnus.tv shoulder rig with mattebox and Battmount from tilta. Its big and heavy but its balanced if i take the time to set it up (its only balanced in its biggest version with large and short bars connected so its all rather lengthy. The shoulder pad sits behind the cam mount and to take weight of my arms i put a lot of weight at the back with the vmount batt and the heaviest weight that genus sells. This way im pulling it down instead of pushing it up which really keeps my arms alive on lengthy shoots.
But its heavy and hard to balance and not very Click-on/Click-off with my manfrotto tripod (i would like to be able to click the rig to a tripod if i feel like it and pick it up again later). I was thinking about getting something like an zacuto recoil rig baseplate. I can attach everything I allready own from there and use a sort of dovetail to connect it to a tripod. Due to the shoulder padding being under the plate and thus under the camera i'd probably be able to keep things more compact and stable then is the case with the genus I got now.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to make a decent rig? Rolling on my shoulder, lenght front to back and wheter or not the shoulde padding is a snug fit are important things. I allready have parts from 3 different rig builders so going for a 4th or 5th isnt a basd thing to build my frankenstein rig.
