2nd Los Angeles HVX200 User Group Meeting

I'm pretty much only going to see the red footage and to waste a little time before the 48 hour film fest. If I can meet up with some cool people then that's a bonus.

I found a place that rents a 2870 sq.ft. auditorium with stage, restrooms, and off-street parking. I can reserve it weekends and nights

If you haven't found anything yet, how about this. its in venice:

If we can get at least 10 people to fork up $15 a head I think I can work something out. (but no wishy washy people. if you say you are coming, you either show up or send the money for your spot. I don't want to get stuck with the bill)

I have some projectors that I'm holding for a friend. With his permission, maybe we can use them and show some video that DVXusers have made? (it would be good practice for me since he wants me to stage a film festival in the future anyway)

I will also have my monitor by tomorrow, so I can bring that, and the stabilizer I bought from the guy in canada. that some DVXusers might want to check out as well. Oh yeah and i have my FS-100 with removable hard drives that I can show people.

What do you think?

Thanks for looking in to that. :thumbsup: Sorry I've been out of touch on this for a bit. Been really busy and my last couple of leads fizzled. I've been desperately trying to find a place that would preferably host for free with enough space and a screening room of some sort.

Let me check on a few other options quickly and if nothing comes through by mid-week, then we'll see if people want to go with what you found. It certainly IS time for our next gathering. :)
 
Figured I'd post here since nobody is replying to my links thread. Can anyone recommend a good place in LA to buy video equipment? I have my HVX but I have yet to get a tripod and a firestore for it, and quite frankly it feels pretty naked right now.

Also, anyone here rent out their camera? I'm wondering what avenues one goes through to do that. I've been considering pimping it on craigslist but I figured it was either saturated or skeezy or both. Input is appreciated
 
I bought my stuff at sammy's in venice. the main guy there Presus (something like that) really knows his stuff. but he sells 300k cameras to studios, so he might not have kept up with the smaller stuff.

for rental Craigs' list / dvxuser / DVinfo / Mandy.com.
