Yes it did - and it also gave the rain an unreal quality. I must read some of the links to see if I can find out if they did this to deliberately make everything slightly surreal (they used a fair few Dutch tilts and some nice filters on the skylines too). I haven't seen the film in ages but I do have a (standard) DVD copy now and a few days ago I bought a DVD player with a built in upscaler so I will watch this again - along with some old favourites. I couldn't believe how much of a difference upscalers made to standard DVDs until I saw evidence at friends' houses recently.
