25p vs 25i projects

Hello people,

Since AXP inside a 25p project refuses to send video out through my deck to a client monitor, I was wondering, why should one even bother editing the footage from the DVX in 25p ? I mean clearly the images that the DVX capture gets written down to tape as 50i, so what is really the point of 25p Avid projects in this case ?

It keeps all the renders and FX as progresive versus interlace so if there is a need for a film out or progressive DVD, the inmages are frame based versus interlace.
