25p shutter question

Hey Guys,

I always shoot in 25p mode on the HVX and was wondering if and when i do pan shots, which shutter speed should i try to use for the least jittery look/ stroby look possible? Would it be the fastest shutter speed without underexposing?

Also i know the 25i looks horrible on the HVX in SD, But if i do want to shoot interlaced for TVC's say, would 1080i put on an SD timeline look better than straight 576i mode?

I hope i'm not too hard to understand.

Thanks, Ben:)

Thanks, I thought not as everythings is downconverted form 1920 x 1080 60p right?

What about the first question?

As you're in australia, I guess 50p, but 'cept from that: Right.

You won't make the scanlines of a 1080 i50 fit a SD i50, thus you're better off with a p source.

The strobing is relative to pan speed.
Real slow and real fast is cool -;)
Possibly worse at high shutter speed with little motion blur. Makes sorta sense...

I just tweak the cam as I shoot... Test some for the relevant shot. Test again and then shoot, but that's just me...

You should be able to get a good look at 1/50 sec... that's what we used on the recent Chux's campaign.... although there still was a bit of aliasing in the wide shot of the kitchen... lots of vertical and horizontal lines.. as you get with a kitchen...

I recently shot 30 (30 second) spots for an awards night all with the cine V setting. The only varying thing were the shutter speeds and iris settings from spot to spot. I noticed in some shots bad jitters on some lines in certain shots. Everything was 576 25p.

Can certain shutter / iris combinations create stair steppy footage???
