25p or 25i for interlaced broadcast?

Hi all,

Is there a difference between 25p and 25i when the footage is broadcasted in 50i ? I´m going to do a small documantary for a small TV station so I´m wondering if the DVX "film look" will survive through the interlaced broadcast.

All advice is well appriciated :)

Set your DVX to F6 and connect it to your TV. That's how it'll look when broadcast...

(That's, of course, assuming you don't have an HD set. There aren't that many in Europe. But if you do, find a friend who has some 5+ year old TV and try it there... You get the idea)

Thanks, but I don´t have the DVX yet. I´m deciding on it against Sony PD170/VX2100 for interlaced broadcast purposes.

the 25p is recorded in 50i anyway (but with two identical fields). otherwise it wouldn´t be PAL anymore.

so 25p looks like 25p.

A common misconception. The fields are most definitely *not* identical. If they were, it would be simple half-resolution de-interlaced video.

The fields are different, but they were captured at an identical moment in time.
