25p...not 24p?

I'm reading "The Guerilla Filmmakers Blueprint" and the author constantly says that 25p should be used rather than 24p. He says this for DV as well as film. And that if you use 24p, it causes problems in post-production. I had the impression that 24p should be used whenever possible. What is his reasoning in this?

EDIT: Hmm...maybe it's because the author is British?

Re: 25p...not 24p?

My guess is that before the advent of the DVX, guerilla filmmakers used cameras like the XL1. Between 60i NTSC and 50i PAL, PAL was preferred, because the "frame" rate was closer to film and also because PAL has a little bit higher resolution and a little bit better of a color space. A PAL XL1 in Frame mode (which is sort of a pseudo-25p) was the holy grail for a while. Those who are experienced in "guerilla" filmmaking probably became accustomed to working in PAL and are more reluctant to change -- even in the NTSC world.

Just a theory, though.
