25p editing. How to?

Hi to everyone! I have already posted this in the tech section, but now I realize this is the most appropriate one to ask this. It is great to know there is a forum about the Panasonic cameras. I think this is the best place to post my technical questions since I own an ag-dvx100Ae (PAL version). My concerns are about video editing in 25p mode. I use Avid Xpress Pro 5.0 to edit my footage. I'm here because I'm planning to shoot a live concert with 5 ag-dvx100Ae cameras, all in 25p shooting mode, and I'd like to sort all the worries out about what type of project I should start with my Avid. Should I start a common dv 25interlaced project or a dv 25progressive project? The final sequence will be mastered on a PAL dvd and the mpeg2 file will be created using Sorenson Squeeze 4.1. Since I bet many of you have already gone through this subject in your productions, I would like to get some suggestions to make my work in the most correct way, especially for what concerns the editing and compression. I ask you this because I encounter some different opinions among the people; there's who tells me I have to start a project in 25p and who tells me to start a project in 25interlaced anyway. Who's right? This is the first time I want to use 25p shooting mode in my life, so, please, be patient. Thank you very much.

Either one will work. The look of the progressive will already be part of the sources. The difference in project type will really be about effects processing - for example rolling titles and effects that have hard borders on them like a wipe or PIP. In 25i, they will move 50 x per second and at 25p, they will move 25x second.

When viewed on an interlace monitor, the 25i processing will look smoother. When 25i is viewed on a progressive monitor, it could end up being softer because of frame blending.

From a 25p you will get a better progressive encoding to MPEg2...

You need to decide based on the above - but overall you are safe either way.
