25p and 30p and 50i...

So I just bought my DVX book by Barry Green. I am reading the frame rates and slow motion section. I have a few questions.

First, does my dvx100b shoot in 25p 30p and 50i, as well as 24p, 24pa and 60i, or is it all dependent on how you upload. I understand that the difference is if you are a PAL user or NTSC user. Being in America we are NTSC, but how does that translate to the DVX? Do I get a different model if I lived in a part of the world that does PAL? or is it just the way it is uploaded? If I seem misinformed on anything above let me know.

Second, I use FCP and FCE. How do I know if I am working in a 60i timeline or 24p timeline?

nothing?

well i think i gathered that 25p 30p and 50p are only the PAL version of the camera.

but what about the fcp time line buisness?

The North America camera shoots 24p, 24pa, 30p, 60i.

I can't remember the control key code to examine the timeline. Maybe command-9? I just saw it for the first time yesterday.

well to change your settings on a timeline you have to go to the toolbar at the top FCP>audio video settings> sequence presets then change to what you're working with
then open a new sequence if you've changed it

and PAL dvx's dont have the 30p option, thats just for you NTSC heads

not to sure if you could capture NTSC footage as PAL, i think you can change it later though with special software?
google allways helps for questions like this

You can change it in FCP. I don't believe FCE has the option to change timeline options because I was working with a film student who shot a film on his XH-A1 in 24p and it didn't work when he imported it into FCE. There could be a way... Try right clicking the sequence in the bin and look for settings in the drop down box. That's how it's accessed in FCP.

gotcha...I overlooked that.

sometimes i forget to look before i ask. Gotta work on that.

Thanks everyone for your responses.
