25p / 50Hz on the HPX300...

[Dave Draper]

Is it possible to shoot at 25p / 50Hz on the HPX300, or only on the HPX301? I was thinking about getting an HPX300 during my next trip to the States, but not if I can't use it wherever required...

The 301 and 302 support 25p/50Hz. The 300 does not.

However, a USA-model HPX300 can be converted by Panasonic USA to support both 24p/30/60 and 25/50, for an additional charge.

Is that a firmware or hardware upgrade?

Don't know. All I know is you send the camera in, they upgrade it and send it back.

Aha. So not something the user is able to do, I'm guessing?

Is the camera essentially turned into a 301 / 302?

It is my understanding that it converts an HPX300 into being an HPX301E.

The 302 doesn't have 60Hz/NTSC capability at all.
