Hi, I´m really sorry for aking this, because I know it´s been asked 100 times but I haven´t found an answer to clear this for me.
I use a PAL DVX in F5 and F6 sometimes, and want to know what´s the best way to start a project (25i , 25p or 24p) so I can get the most out of the progresive mode.
What i´m looking for is to output on DVD.
Is there really a diference between a 25i and a 25p project? What do you guys recomend if I want my final footage to have the most film look.
I´m using a DVX100B with Avid Pro 5.0.
Thanx.

25i?

Would of thought you can choose 50i and 25p. And if you had recorded in F6 and F5 with unchanged settings it was recorded in 25p, which you should also edit in. 25p is the answer.

You will want to do 25p. Maintain the full progressive'ness of the image.

There will be no real difference in the source image between a 25i and 25p project until you get to effects such as wipes, moving PIP, rolling titles that will all be at 50 fields instead of 25 progressive. When encoding as progressive, those sections will have blended fields with movement in them.

Ok great! thanx

Got another question..

If I use a low cost miniDV cam to play and load my footage (so i don´t burn my DVX´s heads) to my Avid on my PC will I still be able to start a 25p project? Will it still be recognized as 25p on the Avid 5.0?
Or does it have to be played and digitized with the DVX to start a 25p project?
Thanks

That doesn't matter at all which player you use. The footage is already recorded and thats on the tape not in camera.
