25 page short over one weekend.

I may have a little extra room in the budget to accomidate gas money and a place to stay (dorm room floor if you wouldn't mind).

And I plan on seeing everyone who is interested on saturday first before I post anything to find out what I need exactly. I have a feeling I may have just enough actors or may be short one. We'll see. I'll keep you posted.

okay so i have a camcorder thanks to the football coach at my college. He has a DVX100 (i don't know if it's A or B) but he says i can borrow it if i agree to film every single home football game and make a highlights reel and music video at the end of the season (next year). And if i film their scrimage this year.

I have a location - a boxing gym - but to be able to use this facility I agreed to shoot a commercial for them for free. Given I have no experience in film (yet) I believe it's a good deal. I gain experience and something to add to the resume and they get a free director. I am now starting to feel like a real filmmaker.

Well after meeting with everyone i still need one more actor, A sound tech (yeah the gym is a big warehouse... BIG echo) and a large crowd for the final scene.

I am not sure how i'm going to get a large crowd... This last problem is a big thing. The final scene is a boxing fight and i am going to work with an artist to draw out a storyboard and choreograph the thing but I will need a crowd, even if its small.

Suggestions??

I am going to post up on the other forum about needing a sound tech. I'll be taking care of lighting and i'll be my own dp.

If it's an actual boxing gym, then maybe they could put on a free exhibition to draw a crowd. That crowd would have to sit through your shooting first. OR you could shoot crowd shots during the exhibition match that could be cut into your boxing scene.

The sound will be a huge issue, but a good sound man can handle it.

WoooHooo! Sounds like you're underway. I think you may have made the most expensive DVX100 rental in history - but at least you get in all games free, sideline access (or does he want you up in the nosebleed section to get whole field coverage?) - and you get to keep the camera for the whole season - right?
Tell him this is very necessary - you need to get really familiar with it if you're going to get those great shots he wants . . . . .and you'll need a couple hundred for tapes - they don't really need all that gatorade every game . . .

Football players make instant crowd - let 'em use the "wanna be in a movie" on their honeys... offer one keg of beer if you have to - still way below scale for a crowd - you did want unruly - right ?

Sounds like you're really getting it in hand - now start your thread over in user films, tell us how the meeting went, and be sure to post lots of BTS and updates as it goes.

There's an excellent thread over in Business/Post on how to get a poster together - and don't forget to keep updating craigslist for crew slots.

Wish I were closer - I'd be there!

Just posted on craiglist for a soung tech, on here for my production journal (definatly useful for keeping my head straight also haha) and posted here for a sound tech. I think i can find all the extras i need on campus. What you suggested abotu the football players could work out really well sinc eone of the football players is actually acting as one of the boxers. And i've officially decided to have it as an open set. I'm not sure how to film the crowd and implement them later without a green screen and i don't want to use a green screen because it won't give it a very good authentic look... i may get large black sheets for the background and add maybe a little bit of art. I haven't figured out the details about how to film the crowd since it's going to be a really big job.

And yeah, the football team will allow me to use the camcorder as much as i want over the school year as long as i film those home games. i don't know the details of it though. I think i'll be in the nosebleeds filmming as well as pre/post games.

Okay I have permission from the theater director!! yeahh!!! but now i have to film the final scene may 17 and i'm filming everything else may 2nd 3rd and 4th. So now i'm going to have to micromanage my rental equip. I'll have to decide what i need to shoot conversations etc adn what i'll need to shoot in the ring.

The rental company was actually right next to the original boxing gym so transportation wasn't a question then. Now i'm screwed trying to figure out how to get a dolly to my college and back.
