25% off Dell 24' (UK)

In The Netherlands the 24" widescreen Dell monitor is 918 euro including VAT. That's around 1050 - 1100 US dollar.
I ordered a Dell XPS 600 with a dualcore processor and this 24" monitor. Hope to get it before X-mas.

Holy crap, that's $1400 US American...

yeah, and we pay nearly 50% income tax too.......that´s why we spend money on gadgets....it is better than paying tax ;-)

It depends on the country.
In The Netherlands the VAT is 19% on computerhardware. I bought the monitor via my own company, so the VAT is payed back by the tax agengy. Our incometax has a proportial rate, up to 50% when you earn a certain amount of money. And less when your income is lower. For a small company, it's not the income but the profit that's been counted for. We say: people who pay the highest tax rate, earn a lot of money, so they can share it.
Our healthcare is not for free, but interest paid for your house is tax deductable.

we get health care for free (kinda) up here in Canada too.. and I was worried about loosing that when i moved to the US. I found out pretty quick though that I will be paying about 15% less tax in California than BC, which gives me enough money to pay for a health care insurance plan for my entire family, cat, and a few homeless people :)

It's something us Brits never have to think about. If I drop down with a heart attack the ambulance will whisk me off to hospital and I won't ever pay a penny for it, even if I have open heart surgery for 15 hours with the number one surgeon in the country and spend 5-6 months in hospital. We moan here about the NHS ( national Health Service) but its free and is excellent.

It should be free anywhere. Can't believe folks in the USA have to pay for it.
