24pn to 60i question

I hope this isn't a stupid question, but...

If I shoot in 720/24pn and edit that in a 24p timeline in FCP, what is the process for getting that onto a DVD to show on a regular 60i television? How do you put the pull down back in to make it play right?

I understand that there's the regular 24p that keeps the pull down (and plays back at 60i), and obviously if I were shooting for standard 60i TV playback, I could shoot and edit that way. But what about when I'm working on a short film in pure 24pn and want to get that onto DVD?

Could someone please help me understand this? Thanks, D&P

I burn 24P DVD's. The DVD player automatically adds the 3:2 pulldown when viewed. it's been in DVD's since day one.

For me, when using Final Cut, I can set up the playback to automacially add the 3:2 pulldown on firewire export if I need to go to DVCAM or some other tape.

tak108,
Thanks. I had no idea DVDs already had that ability.
So, if I were using Compressor to output from FCP, I would just choose the appropriate preset and let 'er rip? That's cool!

Yep, in compressor 2, there is a 23.98 frame rate setting setting, in Compressor 1, it's called 24P.
