24PN or 30PN for Archiving?

Hello,

I am shooting a series of interviews with internationally prominent architects for the Philip Johnson Estate. I will be editing the oral histories into a short program for playback in their visitor center and on their web site., but the primary use is to create an archive of oral history material about Philip Johnson. There will be six interviews approximately 90 minutes in length.

What frame rate would you suggest that will most likely be universally accepted or in use 25-50 years from now? 60P is not really an option for me given the storage requirements on days when I will be shooting 2 interviews.

And in a related question, I was going to get a 25 / 50 gig Blu Ray burner to archive files. Better to archive original file or Quicktime conversion?

Thanks,
Drew Harty

I always shoot 24pn, no reason not to. PN saves space by only recording the native frames to the p2 card. Pick up Barry Greens hvx/hpx book, he explains it very well and in simple terms.

As far as archiving, you could do it two ways. You could archive the original P2 data or, you could capture all your footage and archive the quicktime files. Either way would work fine, it's going to take up the same amount of space. Pick whichever suits your needs the best. Hope this answers your question.
