24PA scene setting for flourescent

I'm starting to shoot a doc in which many of the interviews will take place indoors under flourescent lights. I will be shooting in 24PA, and wondered if I should simply use the default DVX-100A "flou" setting (just changing to 24PA), or if anyone had any other suggestions?

White balance under the lights.

Set your shutter speed to the local freq. (1/60th in the US, 1/50th in europe and other silly places.)

(Wish people would put their locations in their profiles...)

Thanks GenJerDan. By the way, I'm going to be shooting in Connecticut in the good ol' US of A. Appreciate the tip.

well then, 1/60th should do it.

But be prepared to make adjustments to that shutter speed...the local freq of the AC might not be exactly 60 Hz. Look for pulsations on the monitor/LCD when under the fluorescents and adjust accordingly.

You'll have to open the Iris up a little, to account for the shorter exposure.

You lose some of the "film-like" 24P when playing with the shutter speed, but not too much. It'll still look filmish, but not quite as motion-blurred.

Doing pretty static interviews, it probably won't be noticeable at all.
