Some quick basic questions about 24Pa - I think I am doing this right but could be wrong :) !

EDIT:
I've modified this post as I realized that I am using Premiere 6.5 - how do I work with 24Pa?

I tried to take the footage into After Effects and interpret footage - this removes pulldown, but then all my audio is off...

I guess when u crate a new project it asks u if u want a 24pa project to use with Panasonic's DVX100 or something like that

I think you're screwed if you're using 6.5. Premiere Pro will handle 24p and 24pA, but I don't think 6.5 had those capabilities. It's been a good while since I've used 6.5 though. Can anyone concur?

I concur. Premiere pro was a big leap from 6.5. From what I hear Adobe's 24p, and especially 24pA, handling has some bugs. That's why everyone is gaga over vegas. Well, not by defaoult, it is a solid program.

If you're running 6.5 and you shot 24pa, ur not screwed. u can still import it into a 29.97 timeline, but, you're going to get a lot of strobing and its not gonna run smooth, it will appear jagged and be all messed up. Another words its a nightmare. If ur going to use 6.5, then shoot 24p normal and you can edit on a 29.97 timeline. Only, you might have some messy edits.

PS- premiere pro isnt much better for 24pa. Im waiting on version 2

That's actually why I went over to Vegas. I have used Premiere, from 6.0 up through PPro 1.5. But when I decided to get the DVX and started researching NLE's I discovered that PPro was really buggy with 24p (and 24pA). Deciding I wanted the best 24p workflow I switched over to Vegas. Now I ask myself all the time why I didn't just start with Vegas. So much easier/better. If anyone asked me, I'd recommend staying out of Premiere for 24p work until they have things worked out better.
