24pa Pulling down after a standard ntsc capture

Hello again,

Ok. I have my footage shot with 24pa camera setting. But I've already captured and placed/edited them in a standard ntsc 29.97 timeline.

Do I recapture the footage with the 24pa advanced pulldown setting and re-do the edit? or is there a way to use my sequence I have and achieve the correct pulldown?

Last question- its a remedial humdinger.

If I output to a standard dvd, wont I be undoing what I tried so hard to do? I guess I need to learn what 24pa is all about.
I want to give the client the best image possible of my dvx100a finished on dvd- is 24pa it?

many thanks,
Peem

As mentioned in the other thread, at this point, after the edit, you can't make a 24p project out of it without a quality hit.

So, you can make a standard NTSC DVD; if your client watches it on a standard TV, he might not see a difference. But through a progressive-scan player on a progressive screen, there will be interlace artifacts.

Or, you can do the project over.

In the future, shoot 24pA and capture with advanced pulldown removal. Then, work in a 24p project.

Or, use a different NLE which can remove either type of pulldown automatically and mix both on a 24p timeline.

Thanks again David,

Read you clear on that. I believe I might be doing 2 versions. One just to finish the standard dvd and then do it with the pulldown for a dvd that will play on the progressive players/screens.

cheers,
Peem
