long story short, DVD's not playing back in DVD players OR on computer. Error messages, on several players, say, ERROR: playback feature not found", and "dirty dick error".
Footage captured on DVD100B in 24pA, edited in 23.98.
I've tried using several output settings .

Anyone seen this before? Is this yet ANOTHER 24pA glitch?

Been working on this for three days now! Deadline for output tomorrow!

help!!!

"dirty dick error".

heh, im sure you mean dirty disc error.
but maybe you didnt set up the dvd project in the dvd software right, and change that to 24fps? i dont think it matters that the footage that was shot was advanced pulldown when your making a dvd.. but what software are you using? perhaps someone with more knowledge than I can help you out, and that might help
good luck!

Are you using DVD-R? It might be your DVD that you recorded on, or the DVD player you're playing it on. Most DVD players play DVD-R's.

oops! Thank you, iDVD is all I have right now. I'll try changing the settings in iDVD-new at this but hopefully not too difficult.

using -R. Tried several brands DVD's, and playing in several players.

Here's a blurb for ya,
"Even a clock that's broken and doesn't run is right twice a day."

it doesn't, this may be the problem, and my budget won't let me get DVD pro.
So, confused about settings, do i use the frame rate it's edited in? or change to NTSC somewhere? where?

Ordinarily you'd save out at the same rate you edited. If iDVD does not support 24fps then see about adding pulldown to the 23.98 to make it 29.97 (2:3:2:3 pulldown)
After Effects can add it. I think FCP 5 caan now add pulldown for a QT export(?)

Hello keldoe. What are your intentions for outputting this thing to DVD. Are you presenting it or do you have to burn a copy to hand in to somebody. If you are just presenting it, why not use a computer hooked up to a projector, that's what I'd do if I found myself in the same incident. If output to DVD is essential I do believe you'll need a different DVD authoring program. (DVD Architect 3.0 is what I have... I better not run into any problems with it!)

Good luck!

I drag 24pa quicktimes onto iDVD 4 projects all the time. I use generic 8x DVD-R media. It hasn't fudged a client screening yet.

I'd look at a different part of your workflow, away from iDVD.
