24pa interlaced lines

i notice that my 24p advanced footage has interlaced lines every 5th frame. is this normal? thanks...

Re: 24pa interlaced lines

Yes that is the "JUDDER" frame. In the pull down. 24p normal has two of them.Side by side. 8)

Re: 24pa interlaced lines

Just make sure you don't cut on that frame is the only thing you have to watch out for. 8)

Re: 24pa interlaced lines

And if you edit using a 24P-aware editor (like FCP4, Vegas, or Blade 2.2) it will automatically remove that "judder" frame from your footage, so you'll never even see it.

Re: 24pa interlaced lines

well, that answers my quickstreamdv question!  importing quickstreamdv footage into fcp4 shows this interlace every 5th frame.  looks like fcp4 does not remove pulldown on the fly(only on capture from tape).  once i removed pulldown, i notice there are no more interlaced lines, but solid frames.  i also notice my clips are 23.98 and no longer 29.97(before pulldown removal).  am i correct in saying a clip that is 23.98 has pulldown removed, while a 29.97 clip does not have pulldown removed yet?  thanks a lot guys!  gladly appreciated as i'm finally learning the technicalities of shooting 24pa!

barry, in vegas when you import your 24p advanced footage onto a 23.98 timeline, does it need to be rendered?
