24PA in Avid Xpress Pro

I've just imported footage from a DVX100 via firewire shot in 24PA into Xpress Pro 5.6. It all looks well, but what's got me confused is that the timeline is still at 30 frames, but the clip properties are all at 23.976. Am I correct to assume that Avid is processing the pulldown to display properly on the the 30i timeline, and that therefore editing with Avid is always done on a 30i timeline, even for 23.976 NTSC projects.

If so, then this is different than when I edit in PP2, where the timeline for a 24PA project displays 24fps.

Can somebody out there set me straight?

All the best,

Michael

What project type did you select? 30i or 23.976?

If you selected 30i, then you need to create a new project in Avid for 23.976 and recapture your footage.

If you selected 23.976 when it's just a setting to tell Avid what timecode to use. Click the timecode at the top of the composer window. From that menu choose Sequence, then Timecode, then 24, then Mas. That should give you 24p timecode on your timeline.

Hope that helps.
