I was reading in barry greens dvx book that 24PA is something like 3:22:3 pulldown. (im at school and dont have the book infront of me, so i dont know the exact term) however, i was just curious if when encoding for dvd do i simply select the regular 3:2 pulldown? Or since its a bit differnt do i have to do something else?

Thanks

What did you edit in? If you shot 24pa then you have to remove pulldown and edit at 23.98.
Depending on your DVD burning software you can make a 24fps DVD or a 29.97fps DVD. In this case it has to add 2:3 pulldown

i edit with adobe 2.0 and capture at 24P. So when authoring the dvd, i just apply the pulldown like i would do for a 24P (non-a) dvd?

That's what I am seeing. I've been recording 24Pa and keeping a 24 progressive all the way through DVD burning and I see my footage getting better.

To my understanding, there is NO WAY to make a PROGRESSIVE MPG2 dvd compliant file with out pulldown........

Burn some DVD's from Encore, some practice DVD's at different settings. I save an AVI file and open into Encore with a new timeline. I do a project check too and I have been successful with my DVD's burned at 8x speed which is the burner's max and the DVD that I bought.
