Hey guys, i just got my dvx100 and i love every bit of it. Yesterday i shoot test stuff in 24p, Do i need to anything special when i burn to dvd using encore? Can i set encore to automatic and let do its thing? Thank you andy help would be great.:undecided
24p on the DVX is 29.97 so there is no issue there...
24fps (23.98) can be achieved by shooting 24pA and removing the cadence it adds. Then, if you create a 23.98 DVD ... BTown and DJ are correct... DVD players will play it just fine.
Make sense? Dbl check you understand the difference between 24p (panasonic) 24fps (film) etc. Can get confusing!!
Both 24p and 24pA are recorded as 29.97. Both are acquired as 23.976. The only difference between them is the way the frames are split up and arranged within the 29.97 stream.
Once pulldown is removed from either, you have exactly the same thing.
If you're using Encore, I assume you're using Premiere; Premiere Pro 2.0 or later handle both 24p and 24pA exactly the same -- you capture, bring it into a 24p timeline, and either kind of pulldown is removed automatically. From there, you edit in 24p and you can output for 24p DVD.
That said, it's less work for the program to remove 24pA pulldown, so if you're going to edit in 24p, shoot 24pA.
