24P with 60i

A friend of mine is shooting a snowboard video with GL2 and others 60i camcorders and he wants some shots with the DVX in 24P. So if he want 24P, I gues 24P not advance is the best since he can capture it and edit it on a 29,97timeline like 60i. Is it the best thing to do?

Yep, shoot 24p normal and then he can treat it just like it was 60i right next to his 60i clips.

i've always shot 24P advance. Is there a big difference when watched on TV or people won't notice the difference?

Re: 24P with 60i

The CCD captures the image the exact same way, it's laid to tape differently. 24P standard will get you a smoother image than 24P Advanced, but honestly, most people won't notice the difference. 24PA is for editing in a 24P timeline, and 24PS is mainly for editing in 60i.

The Advanced pulldown makes it easier for the computer to remove the pulldown, that's why it exists. The native 24 frames per second, however, will be exactly the same regardless of what mode you shoot in.
