24p vs 30p

I just shot some footage for a local tv show in 24p. The producer wanted that "film look". Most of the camera moves were pans and walking shots. When the camera moves too quickly the shots get smeary until the camera comes to a stop. I'm viewing the shots from the Edius timeline directly onto a 30 inch HD monitor (CRT not LCD).
I find 30p less smeary while still maintaining a film quality.
Given our shooting style is primarily hand held, should we stick with 24p or go for 30p?

ps: obiously I'm leaning towards 30p...I'm just getting some second opinions in case I'm missing something.

If you want the film look, shoot 24p. It really can't be any simpler. 24p is the EXACT SAME motion you'd get from a 16mm or 35mm film camera. Exactly. Smeary isn't the word you are looking for. Strobby is a bit closer. But a film camera will display the exact same kind of strobe. It's just a fact of life. If it bugs you you can lower the shudder speed though I personally find that ugly (as do many people). Any problems you have with 24p you'd have with film.

if the station doesnt care Go for it. Just let them know that it solves the "problem" but is not true 24p.
