24p vs 30 in AE ramped slow motion

Ok, i have noticed when i bring my 24p footy into AE and add some ramped slow motion to it, the scene looks like its skipping. Also if i put it in 30 with the same setting I have for 24p. How much different will it look, and will the slowmotion be more smooth???????
thanks
mike

Re: 24p vs 30 in AE ramped slow motion

Yes, the motion will be about 20% smoother (there are 20% more frames to work with). Just make sure that you have any resampling turned off when you do this so that you keep all the frames. If you slow 30p footage to 80% in a 24p timeline you will get frame for frame accurate slowmotion, playing every single frame of the 30p footage.

I'm doing my project in AE, do AE have 24p options? also, what is resampling and is it on the camera or a party of ramped slow motion in AE?
thanks

Re: 24p vs 30 in AE ramped slow motion

AE should do a pulldown, that will remove the fields from your 24P footage so you'll get 24 full frames per second, then apply the slow motion and apply the pulldown again to bring it back to 30. Resampling is in AE, should be an option in your slow motion tool.

I hope this helps
