24p vs 25p

Guys, is it possible to see two same videos, but the first one shot in 24p mode and the other in 25p. I want to see the difference between them. I mean could you find where 24 and 25 framerate? I can't decide what to buy: american or europe version... :( What i really want - cine-like motion.

We've been over this just a couple of hundred times.

I was worried at first when I bought my HVX, but really, buy the camera that fits your region. I can without any doubt make cine-like shoots with my PAL camera at 25p, if it's really an issue to deliver 24p material, you load the files into for example shake, or cinematools and conform the clips to the appropriate framerate (24p), it's no hassle. And you will not even once in your lifetime miss either a gig or an applause because of mathematical resolution loss or similar theoretic quality-loss algorithms.

- cheers,

OBVIOUSLY there is no difference, because there are even lots of films shot on
25 FPS even with film cameras as far as im aware!

So yes there is no discernable difference imo...

If i recall, the book the Guerilla Guide to filmmaking (a very popular text on the subject in the UK) advises filmmakers to shoot film stock at 25fps and not 24...

So point being, and again its my opinion, that there is no sacred golden egg that is delivered to thine brain when you watch 24p over 25p, cos its not like uve ever noticed the differences between film stocks at 24 and 25 before have u?

Basically, what folk are trying to say is there is zero difference. If you shoot a movie at 25 frames per second and transfer it to film at 24 frames per second, you don't loose any frames, your movie will simply be a tad longer to accommodate all the extra frames. Basically a 1 hour movie shot at 25 fps will become a 1 hour, 2 minute and 30 second movie by the time it is transfered to film.

Basically, buy whatever the format is in your region and don't worry about it, the film transfer guys will know what to do and there is zero quality difference.

If you are in UK then 25 fps is better as your dvd will render better on 50hz UK PAL television sets, as this is half 25.
