24P vs 24p (Advanced)

I want to film in 24 frames per second using my DVX100B, to achieve a more film like look.

However, I'm not really sure what the difference is between 24P and 24P (Advanced)

If i go to MENU - SCENE FILE - PROGRESSIVE

I get the following options: 30P - 24P - 24P (Advanced)

So which should I choose? I'm using vegas as an editing system if that makes a difference.

Also, is there a way to save these selections or do I have to manually choose 24p anytime i power the camera back on?

Thanks again in advance everyone!

Oh man oh man... not another one of these threads...

Please use the "search" function, and you'll find MORE than enough info on exactly what you're talking about. (unless someone is having a better day than I, and wants to spend time explaining it, agian)

good luck

p.s. the last setting on there asks you if you want to "save" the settings. Press yes, name it, press SAVE.

Na dude its cool you don't have to apologize. You probably just start and wanted to know. rcbrown23 didn't have to be a dick about it. In fact he did not have to post anything. I hope you fine your answers peace.

If encouraging newcomers to use the "search" function is being a dick, than I'll gladly be labeled as one for the sake of the greater good.

The SAME threads over and over clutter up the forums and make it harder for people to find the answers on their own (by having to search a thousand threads instead of just one good one).

I said "please", I said "good luck", and I offered advice that will go a LOT further than getting a simple answer.

If you feel the need to retaliate, PM me so we don't hijack the already hijacked thread.

Nuff said...

I like using 24p Advanced. I dont transfer to film, but i like knowing im making a true 24 frames per second DVD's.. as opposed to 30FPS Dvds, when shot in standard 24p. Dont ask me why... i guess it makes me feel closer to "film"!

The one thing i do like about 24 Standard is you can bring clips into 30 fps timelines if you want to do , say a demo reel or something combining 24p clips with 30 fps clips..

If i try that with a true 24fps clip, it makes me render

If you're going to edit on a 24P timeline, shoot 24P Advanced.

If you're going to edit on a 60i timeline, shoot regular 24P.

That's it.

not cool calling brown a d*ck

not cool calling brown a d*ck

nobody has helped me and a lot more people out on this site more than brown (with no ulterior motive, unlike some people who post)

24p is 24 frames per second, and 24pA is 24 frames per second, but in advanced mode.

That is like saying the difference between Vanilla and French Vanilla is that Vanilla is Vanilla flavoured, and French Vanilla is Vanilla flavoured, except it is French.

...and isn't 24p still really 23.97 fps? I thought that the major difference between 24p and 24pa is the pulldown, and that 24pa translates better for a film edit, or something like that.

At least that is what i have gathered from the copious amount of stuff I have read on here, some of which brings up more questions than answers.
