i have been shooting mostly in 24pa shooting action sports. but i have to shoot in 30p when i shoot at night. are there certain scene settings that you guys use that work better at night, or should i just get a light?
thanks

You can add gain in 24p no problem.

When I shoot at night I use lights, but there are times when I can only shoot with the available light on the street, so I still shoot 24p but change the shutter to 1/24 as appossed to 1/48.

Also, with the dvx, you can adjust the gain in small incriments, I think I have mine set to 3db incriments, not sure, rarely use it & it still turns out fine.

If it is a scripted scene, try to get it shot in an area that has adequate ambient light, WB & use those settings I suggested & you'll be ok.

If it is still too dark, well, your screwed.

as the others have said u can ad gain no prob....i literally was just outside in the night under street lamps shooting 24p and added gain to see how it wud turn out. wasnt bad. lower ur master ped and it wont be so bad. Obviously the best answer though is light.

if you are limited with light and don't have much exposure, I would perfer to shoot 24 over 60 so I can get more light into the sensor.

DUDE huge mistake!

Shoot 24p and 60i for actions sports. That way you can mix the footage in the same comp. Read up on it.

24pA is strictly for a 24pA timeline.

alright thanks for the advice i'll try increasing the gain and playing around with that, if not i guess i'll pick up a light
