24P Native output to NTSC????

Greetings,

I have a feature film shot on the HVX200 1080/60 (firestore 100). I shot the feature at 24p, I then used RAYLIGHT MXFX to remove the pulldown effect. I edited the entire feature at 1080p/23.976 and I am ready to create a screener for my TV and foreign reps. I edit on AVID Xpress and AVID Composer 3.0 How can i create a NTSC off a 24p Native project.

I was thinking of renting the Sony-HVR-M35U. Has anyone used this deck? It claims it can record 24p Native but playback at NTSC. Has anyone had any type of exprerience with this proconsumer deck?

Does anyone have any other (inexpensive) recommendations to create a NTSC DVD or tape off of a 1080p/23.976 project? Again, this is a screener (so i can't afford a DVCPRO HD deck rental etc. just yet)

Dude just output a 24p DVD and it will play fine on NTSC - the decks do the pulldown automatically if you set the DVD up for 24p and it should play fine.

yes but the dvd will have to be downrezzed. it will still look great. but if u wanna archive ur film in true hd you'll want it on tape. my advise is if u really want it on tape, just have a conversion ouput house or whatever they call it do it. you'll pay that fee, and the price for the tape and they'll take care of all of it for u. it amounts to the same thing or even cheaper then actually renting a deck for the day. and they'll do it professionally so u won't be running into any headaches.

keep in mind that dvcpro hd decks don't do 1080p, just 1080i/60

dvcpro HD tapes are incredibly expensive, and if ur just using a normal dvcpro tape it eats up double the time on the time at 720p if u choose to downrez.

for true everything u want on a tape i would go hdcam. or hdcam SR. if ur a stickler cuz hdcam downrezzes and reduces color space, but SR will give u everything and then some.

You can apply pulldown in the compressor, or allow the DVD player to apply pulldown

Or you can burn a bluray and play it on a progressive tv with blueray in 24 native frames per second...my favorite option.

Really??? hmmm it would not play since it was set at 24 frames as opposed to 30 frames per second (or 60I). What type of compressor do you use Sorenson? I am having problems doing this from a true 24p native project etc.

How does one do that in compressor? Do i change the frame rate settings in the output? Can Sorenson Squeeze do this?

Thanx for everyone's responses - it is greatly appreciated.

Omar
